NOTICE FROM J.D. IRVING:
It is currently looking like we may be getting some colder nights over the upcoming weekend.
Both Chipman and Sussex mills will remain open for Purchase Wood 24/7 through the weekend.
We will be accepting Spruce/Fir/Jack Pine Sawlogs, Studwood and Pulpwood.
Join the Nashwaak Watershed Association and partners to delve into the topic of dead wood. We'll discuss climate change and wind events, fire hazards, and the benefits that dead wood provides as habitat. Guest speakers include Anne MacKnight (YSC Marketing Board), Roger Collet (DNR Firesmart Program), and Mark Pulsifer (Nova Scotia wildlife biologist). The morning will include presentations and discussion at the Community Room of the Unity Centre (formerly the Ville). After lunch (bring your own), we will carpool to a nearby woodlot for further discussion and a walk in the woods. This workshop is generously funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada, through the Wolastoq Priority Place Program for species at risk.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 11 when this event will be offered to woodlot owners. Contact Nashwaak Watershed Association Inc. for more information!
