Effective immediately, all slips & TCs from J.D. Irving mills must be turned into the YSC office for payment. JDI is no longer sending this information to YSC via fax.
Full payment information will not be available from JDI to YSC until midnight on Mondays (holiday dependent.) Payments can only be made after JDI has updated the information on their website. This means most JDI loads will no longer be paid the same week the load is delivered.
If you are currently missing any payments for JDI loads from the past week, please send a clear copy of both your JDI slip and TC to the YSC Fredericton office. (Email: yscfredericton@yscnb.ca Fax: 506-444-6630)
YSC appreciates your understanding and cooperation on this matter.
Here we are, another season underway, and time flies, as I'm sure you'll agree.
This message is to inform you of a few small changes and our purchasing situation at the moment. Since September 2023, we've had a new "sorting" plant for hardwood and aspen pulp. This plant debarks the wood and sorts it to save the good wood for the pulp. So some of it goes straight to the chippers, and some goes into binders according to size. So we've set up a facility to recover the pallet from any pulp trip, and this improves our sawing performance because the wood is selected more carefully than in the past.
That said, we have worked on new mixed pulp/pallet rates. There's no need to sort the pallet with the machines in the forest. If a producer still wants to sort the pallet and sell the rest elsewhere, he can always do so and get more value for the pallet. Except for aspen, we continue to take only pallet quality (5" +) as before... no change for this product. As for hardwood logs, the price is fairly stable, except for birch (white and yellow), which has fallen due to the current unfavorable market conditions. In 2023, the value of birch was better than maple, but this is no longer the case.
To start the season, until the end of August, Groupe Savoie will stop buying the following products:
- Softwood pulp (for Biomass); high inventory and softwood sawdust in quantity
- Aspen log; high inventory and risk of deterioration in the summer (fungus etc.)
We will follow up with you around mid-August for these products. The rest, such as hardwood logs, hardwood and aspen pulp, we will buy.
I enclose here the prices of the various products as well as the spec.
Do not hesitate if you have any questions,
Thank you and have a great 24-25 season!!! Yves
